“Nɔte Dan”, translated as Earth House, is an innovative, eco-friendly affordable housing concept that embodies the principle of “less is more.” It prioritizes affordability, ecological balance, and cultural authenticity, making it a model for sustainable, minimalist living.
Designed with locally sourced materials like earth, timber and bamboo, Nɔte Dan not only cuts down on construction costs and emissions but also strengthens community ties by engaging local input and craftsmanship.
The design of this affordable three-bedroom home integrates natural ventilation, passive cooling (Beehive Natural AC), daylighting (skylights and sun tunnels) and efficient water systems, all of which help reduce resource usage. These features align with EDGE certification standards, emphasizing energy and water savings as well as minimal environmental impact.
Additionally, the minimalist layout offers a balance of form and function, providing a space that is both beautiful and highly practical for everyday life.
What sets Nɔte Dan apart is its blend of tradition with modern efficiency, making it a home that honours the past and still meets today’s sustainability needs. This approach redefines quality housing as something that is environmentally conscious, affordable, and deeply connected to the local environment and heritage.
